Since 1974, The Freelance Players teaching artists, music directors and directors have been writing and publishing original musical theater shows – many of which are available for purchase and licensing for teaching artists and educators everywhere. Our members are aged eight to eighteen years and we perform two shows. Footlights Youth Theatre, the junior section of Eastleigh Operatic and Musical Society, has been performing in a variety of venues since its formation in the year 2000. They will have exercised their social-emotional muscles through collaboration, discussion and exploration of the play’s story and characters, which results in a greater awareness of the self, their community and beyond. Footlights Youth Theatre are an amateur group based in the Eastleigh area for children aged 8 - 18 years.

Footlights has a record number of franchises in Greater Manchester and currently extends to outlets. Students leave the program with a greater knowledge and practiced skill in the holistic study of theater, performing arts and drama. Broadcast on over 100 stations nationwide and internationally, Footlight Parade: Sounds of the American Musical is a weekly musical theater radio broadcast. young people ages 4-18 yearsand she did exactly that. Freelance programs uphold our organizational values of social justice, creativity, respect, cooperation, empathy and positive social change. Our ensemble-approach fosters imagination, artistic growth and self-confidence. This show was set to be directed by Lynn Marshall, a former Backdoor Theatre actor, director and board member, who died unexpectedly in January 2018. The fifteen people do not have to be with the one group, as multiple groups and individual bookings. At the moment Footlights Theatre Restaurant will perform on any day or night of the week but ONLY for group bookings of fifteen or more persons. The program will take place on the Capitol Theatre stage and will culminate in a final showcase where actors share their new skills with each other.The Freelance Players engages youth in the creation and performance of original, issue-oriented musical theater performed for audiences of all ages. We will have 10 participants per session. This program introduces a new artistic experience to Nelson and area.

The mentors are professional instructors and actors. Footlights Academy will offer a mentorship opportunity for children, youth and adults to engae in learning theatre skills. Currently we offer community and youth engagement in live theatre through our Summer Youth Education program and the Christmas Pantomime. Students will gain self-confidence and understanding about theatre acting, and most of all, they’ll have fun!īased on a pilot project we ran last year, the Capitol Theatre is adding a community theatre acting program called Footlights Academy to our established community programming. Each week is dedicated to the exploration of a fundamental performance concept, taught through activities and games. The Acting Foundation Course for Kids will teach young actors basic voice and performance skills.
